Bangkok Duty Free Price List Pdf
The operator of duty free outlets in is the subject of legends (that you would not want to be part of). Legends include the process by which they obtained the concession at the new airport, abuse of that concession, pricing of goods, and scandals involving 'security' in duty free outlets. Some embassies or foreign ministries have issued advisories against airport duty free. Be well prepared on prices elsewhere (including other duty free outlets such as,,, Amsterday) before you cast any dollar votes for Bangkok airport duty free. You might wish to google 'Bangkok Airport Duty Free scam' or 'King Power scam' (the latter is the outsourced provider of duty free and much other commercial space at Bangkok airport. Anything Thai is likely to be cheaper outside Thai airport duty free outlets, and some other things (electronics, etc.) also. Perhaps only international brands of wine and liquor, and perfume, might be cheaper in duty free.
But other airports beat those in Thailand hands down on trustworthiness and price. TravelBuggas, I buy Angel perfume at the duty free shop in Svarnabhumi () Airport every year.
I buy the large bottle. It is 65.US at the airport and 100.US at home here in Canada. I used a credit card - it is purchased in Thai Baht but translated on the credit card statement.
You can not haggle. Not a biggie though as it's already a significant savings. I didn't have an issue with the size. Security looked at it and asked is this marked duty free?
Be well prepared on prices elsewhere (including other duty free outlets such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai, Amsterday) before you cast any dollar votes for Bangkok airport duty free. As long as it is sealed with the duty free sticker it's OK. *If you purchase perfume it will be sealed in a plastic bag with a large sticker marked Duty Free.
The store told me not to hide it ~ keep it in view. No problems. All went smooth! The airport is a great place to spend your left over Thai Baht. I bought a Silk Scarf/shawl. There is a Bath store that is phenomenal! Edited: 10:13 pm, September 20, 2011.
Duty free at airport is a mixed bag really. There are a number of major fashion brand shops such as Coach and Gucci (to name a few) as well as shops selling alcohol, perfume, make up, chocolates and so on. There are one or two electrical good stores and some specialty stores and so you've got a good selection of shops to choose from. Prices, however, can leave a lot to be desired.
Perfumes, make up and alcohol are cheaper.wine considerably cheaper.but other goods are not so well priced. Chocolate, of all things, is very expensive in my opinion. A bag of Cadbury's mini milk chocolates costs around 650 Baht!! Which is (very) roughly $20 or £12 So, I feel that shopping at the duty free is not a particularly cheap option and in a number of cases, more expensive than if you had bought outside. You can duty free shop at King Power close to before going to the Airport. This is a decent option if you have the time because you can get a look at what's on offer and take a note of prices before ending up at the airport. Finally, if you are looking to grab an iPad or something you really want, then don't wait until the airport because stock might not be available.
If you really want it but simply must get the duty back, shop in Bangkok itself and claim duty back at airport. For more information and plenty of photos, feel free to visit: Hope this helps. Hi Travelbuggas For some strange and unknown reason the officials at airport won't allow you to board with any duty free goodies when they are liquids over 100mls when you're travelling to Australia. I wasn't even allowed to take face cream. We came across this last year and I recently read a report on TA that this is still so. I commented that it was strange because you can do so from KL. And I think, but I'm not sure about that.
In any case, as others have said, duty free at the airport isn't really cheap and you'd probably do better to buy in town and then you could put it into your check in luggage. • FAQ: How to get from the AIRPORT to your HOTEL • FAQ FLIGHT Connections & DOMESTIC Arrivals • FAQ CURRENCY EXCHANGE & ATMs • FAQ FAST PASS at the Airport • FAQ What To See & Do • FAQ Airport HOTELS • FAQ DUTY FREE Allowance • FAQ GETTING Around • FAQ Bangkok SHOPPING • FAQ Finding a TOUR Guide • FAQ The WEATHER • FAQ DINING in Bangkok • FAQ Floating Markets • FAQ Potential scams • FAQ GREAT READS about Thailand • FAQ - What are the IMPORTANT LAWS IN THAILAND that Travellers should be aware of? • FAQ - What to eat in Bangkok?
