I get this error message every time I click 'Play' on the launcher. I have tried getting rid of the launcher by bypassing it (deleting the launcher file and renaming 'aom.exe' to 'launcher.exe) rebooting, verifying integrity of game cache and completely reinstalling the game. None of them as of yet have worked. Oddly enough, there seems to be nobody else who has experienced this problem, as there are no answers anywhere. I think this may be an error for people who pirated the game (which, I assure you, I haven't) but for me Steam is always running. Has anyone else had this error? Does anyone know how I could fix it?

This problem appeared out of nowhere for me; I tried getting rid of the launcher, and it worked for a while, but then the problem reappeared, and I haven't been able to fix it. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game and steam both, and nothing works. I have similar problems with most other steam games I've bought, and when I contact steam support, they say the game logs show I've played recently (because when the launcher loads, it logs it as playtime); when I reply, they ignore me. I've tried bypassing the launcher by trying to run the game directly from steam both with and without 'bypass launcher' selected, and it doesn't work.

Any other advice? I'm really frustrated, since I bought a hard copy of this game for my own uses and only got a steam account to play it because the game wouldn't let me run it without one.
