Prakash Raj's directorial venture in Kannada titled Naanu, Nanna Kanasu will hit the screens this Friday. The actor-turned-producer is excited to see himself in the new role of a director. The Kannada movie is a remake of his Tamil production Abhiyum Naanum. Ramesh Aravind appears in a special role in the Kannada version.

The movie was shot extensively in exotic locales of Chickmagalur and surroundings. Petite Amoolya will be seen in the role of Prakash Raj's daughter.

Earlier, Ramya had been selected for the role. But she walked out of the film owing to differences over remuneration.

Naanu Nanna Kanasu is the depiction of a father’s narration of his own coming-of-age, with the birth and growth of his daughter. It is a remake of tamil movie, “Abhiyum Naanum”.Uthappa (Prakash Raj), who encounters a chance to meet a young father Jayanth (Ramesh Aravind) and his daughter, on his morning walk. As they introduce themselves to each other, going past the hilarity of the nature of their rendezvous Uthappa begins to narrate to Jayanth how it was to bring up his own daughter, Kanasu (Amoolya).Sharing the better half of this journey of Uthappa’s, is his wife and soulmate Kalpana (Sithara) who is seen to be the saner voice in the Uthappa household.

For the most part this film seems to be a witty comedy about life and relationships before a dark turn takes the film in a different direction. At this point morality choices become real rather than academic.

This film sits comfortably somewhere in the middle of the Allen canon.
