रोज सकाळ, संध्याकाळी आरती करतात. गणपतीला नैवेद्य दाखवतात.पहिल्या व शेवटच्या दिवशी मोदकाचा नैवेद्य असतो.पूजेत रोज एकवीस दुर्वांची जुडी वाहिली जाते, कारण गणपतीला दुर्वा प्रिय आहेत.जसा घरी तसाच सार्वजनिक गणपतीही बसवला जातो. पहिल्या दिवशी गणपती आणायला जाताना शुद्ध पवित्र अंतःकरणाने जावे. डोक्यावर टोपी असावी. जाताना सोबत ताम्हण, अक्षता, गुलाल,पांढरा मोठा रुमाल,जान्हवे, घंटी घेऊन जावे. शक्यतो दोघांनी जावे. जाताना गणपतीचे आसन तयार करुन जावे, म्हणजे आल्यावर धावपळ होत नाही.

गणपतीची मूर्ती घेताना सुबक, प्रसन्न, शक्यतो पिवळे पितांबर नेसलेले पाहून घ्यावी. मूर्ती भंगलेली, रंग उडालेली नसावी.गणपतीच्या उजव्या कानाच्या पाळीला छोटेसे भोक असावे म्हणजे त्यात भिकबाळी घालता येते. गणपती आणणाराने डोक्यावर टोपी घालावी. गणपतीची मूर्ती ठरवल्यावर ती ताम्हणात अक्षता ठेऊन त्यावर ठेवावी.

गणपतीवर गुलाल वाहावा. सर्वांना गुलाल लावावा. गणपतीला जान्हवे घालावे. रूमालाने तोंड झाकावे.

गणपतीचे तोंड समोर करून हातात घेऊन यावे. येताना एकाने घंटी वाजवावी, आणि गणपती ’बाप्पा मोरया’चा गजर करावा. गणपती धरणार्‍याने शक्यतो पायात वहाणा घालू नयेत. घरी दारात आल्यावर घरातील सुहासिणीने भाकर तुकडा ओवाळून टाकावा, आणणार्‍याच्या पायावर पाणी घालावे. गणपती आसनासमोर खाली ठेवावा आणि शास्त्रोक्त पूजा अर्चा करून गणपतीच्या मुर्तीची स्थापना करावी.

गणेश विसर्जनाचा कार्यक्रम. भाद्रपद शुद्ध चतुर्दशीला(अनंत चतुर्दशी) गणेश विसर्जन करतात.यादिवशी मोदकाचा नैवेद्य करावा. दुपारी आरती करून नैवेद्य दाखवावा. संध्याकाळी पुन्हा आरती करावी. गणपतीची मूर्ती आसनावरून खाली ठेवावी. मग ती ताम्हणात घ्यावी. मूर्ती घेणार्‍याने डोक्यावर टोपी घालावी.

गणपती घेणार्‍याने मागे वळून पाहू नये. गणपतीला सर्व घरात फिरवून घर दाखवावे.विसर्जनाच्या ठिकाणी आरती करून, खिरापतीचा नैवेद्य दाखवावा. शक्यतो वहात्या पाण्यात विसर्जन कारावे.

नसल्यास स्वच्छ पाण्यात विसर्जन करावे. येताना विसर्जनाच्या पाण्यातील माती घरी आणावी, ती जेथे गणपतीची मूर्ती बसवली होती तेथे ठेवावी.

Ganesh festival begins on Ganesh Chaturthi - Bhadrapada Chaturthi Shukla (Shuddha) Paksha the auspicious day when Lord Ganesh was born, Ganesh Pratishthapana is performed and the festival is concluded with the Ganpati Visarjana (immersion procession) on Anant Chaturdashi - Bhadrapada Chaturdashi Shukla Paksha.
