You can do a couple of different things to return JAWS to a pristine state for testing, including the following: • Remove any user settings that have been created • Run JAWS with the /default switch Remove User Settings User settings can be removed or deleted with ease. You may want to back up user settings to a safe location before deleting them. To remove user settings do the following: • Open the Windows Start menu. • Press P to move to Programs and open it.

• Move to the JAWS (or MAGic) program group and open it. • Move to the Explore JAWS (or MAGic) group and open it. • Move to Explore My Settings and press ENTER. Windows Explorer opens with a list of files and folders (for the current user) containing any settings that have been modified since JAWS was installed. • Select all files and folders and delete them. JAWS (or MAGic) will immediately begin recreating any needed files, but will return to all default settings.

Run JAWS with the Default Switch Another way to run JAWS as if it were a brand new installation without any user settings that is less invasive is to use the /default switch. • If JAWS is running, close it. • Open the Windows Run dialog box by pressing WINDOWS Key+R. • Type in JAWSnn /default, where nn represents the JAWS version number you want to use. For example, JAWS14 /default, or JAWS13 /default. (Note the space between the JAWS version number and the /default switch.
