The command line 'Deltree' is no longer with us - I believe it was dumped in XP. And no, Deltree shipped with Win98 etc. Won't work on x64 windows.
Instead, one can use the shell command RD /S to delete a folder tree, including files. Problem is, it also deletes the specified folder.

P k song for mohra movie 1994. So I used a third-party tool called 'Del3' instead. Unfortunately, it chokes on open files. So if you try to delete a foldertree containing a file that's open, it aborts.
Ok, so I use 'DEL /S d: temp' to get rid of all files and then use the third party tool 'RMEmpty' to get rid of empty folders. Unfortunately, RMEmprty suffers the same problem as RD - it removes the specified folder as well in case it's empty. All in all, there doesn't seem to be a decent successor for 'ye ole deltree?
